Galaxies are found in a variety of forms, as shown by this Galaxy poster. The Milky Way is an example of a spiral galaxy. Other variations include elliptical, lenticular, and peculiar galaxies that fit into no other category. The Milky Way Galaxy is 100,000 light years in diameter, a light year being the distance light travels in one year. One light year is about 5,878,000,000,000 miles, so the diameter of our galaxy is about 587,800,000,000,000,000 miles. That is a lot of zeros!!!..This attractive yet informational print that is full of illustrations is a wonderful reference for any classroom.
