In the local native language, Sacandaga means "land of the waving grass". The primary purpose of creating the reservoir was to control flooding on the Hudson River and the Sacandaga River.
Created from layers of carved birch wood to create a 3D bathymetric chart, the precision cuts of wood illustrate the depths of the lakes and the shape of the coastlines. It comes complete with a solid wood frame that is ready to hang on the wall.
