J. Wightman published this folding map of the Michigan Territory, then consisting of the lower peninsula, in New York City for settlers making the journey westward. Michigan's Constitution was adopted the same year this map was created in 1835, although it would be another 2 years before being recognized by Congress. This Map shows locations of Towns, Indian Villages, Forts, Roads, Rivers and Lakes.
